What is a really good and deep fiction book for a sixteen year old interested in technology?

I want to gift a book to my 16 yr old sister who is interested in technology and science fiction. I need a really good and deep book, as I want to introduce her to some good writing.

world without end is a medium sized book, but very science fictiony–the moon crashes, etc

good book

Dune is the best book I can recommend to you. Its very Sci-fi, and one of the most creatively and best developed written work I can think of as far as science fiction goes. If she is a prolific reader it would be a great gift.
