What is a good book to read with a minor character and a major character that are foils of each other?

bubble_pop_electric16 asked:

For my AP english summer assignment I have to write an essay about a book in which a minor character and a major character or foils of each other and move the plot along. I need an impressive book since it’s going to be the first thing my teacher reads of mine. I don’t want to pick a book that turns out not to have a good foil in it.

Pray for the answer to come to you from a higher source.

Why not have a delve into the classics? Try “Kidnapped” by the Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson. This has exactly the sort of pairing of characters you specify. It also happens to be a very good read.
