I need some good names for these characters.

I Wonder asked:

Okay, I’m writing a short chapter book for my writing assignment. I’m trying to think of characters’ names, which I always have problems with. I can only think of one name that I like, and it’s for a spiritual girl [Shirly "the Loon" Sunshine]. Anyway, here are the main characters’ short bios;

- This dude’s a real jerk. He’s selfish, thinks very high of himself, wants his way only, barely goes out of his way for a friend, and has a crush on “Shirly”. He’s kind of like Daffy Duck from Looney Tunes. Caucasion.

- This boy is putty in any girl’s hand. He’s a sweetheart that tries to take control, but fails. He can get pretty mad if you cross him, though. He’s strong-hearted, but kind of a weekling. He’s amazed by the simple [and not-so-simple] things in life. Kind of sarcastic. I’m sort of modeling his personality after Eric from That 70’s Show, Caucasion.

- This girl is the only African-American character. She’s what you might call a “cheetah girl”. She’s a rich, sort of sporty, peppy, pretty girl. She’s usually happy, loud, and loves to sing and dancing. I’m thinking Nelly for this one.

- This boy is really squirrley. He’s loud, hyper, and playful. He can be retarded, but serious at the same time. He’s really considerate for other peoples’ feelings, especially friends. The most important thing to him is family, Very Caucasion.

- Shirly [you can think of names suggestions for her too] is very spiritual. She talks in a valley girl accent. She meditates and actually levitates sometimes when she does it. She uses Tarot Cards, reads palms, and sometimes even a crystal ball. She also does Yoga. She loves sushi and Starbucks. Cherokee/Caucasion.

Thanks lots for the name help!

Ooo- sounds like an interesting story already! :D
Here’s just a few names that popped in my head when I read your character descriptions, hope they help:
(Sorry if anyone else suggests these, I didn’t even read the other answers yet).

-Jerky guy: Luke, Devon/Devin, Kevin, Heath, Scott, Max, Carter, Kyle, Brad (the cad ;) , or maybe even have him referred to by his last name (kinda like Malfoy and Potter do to each other in HP series; shows animosity and annoyance). If you want him to sound more ‘tough’ than annoying you might want to try a nickname of his initials like: TJ, JD, SP, ect. (Every guy I know who owns a motorcycle has a name like TJ, JR, ect. Weird, eh?)

-Sweet guy: Gabriel, Michael, Christian, John, Ryan, Anthony, Alin/Aiden, Collin, Nathan, Daniel, or Lionel. (The last name nickname might work for this character as well, a sweet name like Hearte or Sunne might indicate a lighter nature :) .

-”Cheetah” Girl- Olivia, Destani, Michelle, Kayla, Kylie, Laureli, Hallee/Hayllee, or Jade/Jadie. (Wow, I can see why you’re having trouble picking names for them- I had trouble thinking of unique names that seemed to relate to an outgoing nature). A nickname like “Star” or “Sassy” might fit her better than an ordinary name like “Jessica” if she likes attention (as it sounds in her description).

-Crazy guy: I actually knew a guy like this and we called him Mau, by his last name (it was german). I also knew another crazy guy we dubbed “Chancho” cuz’ we thought it meant underwear in French (it doesn’t but the name kinda stuck). A funny nickname might work better than a real name; some silly names: Butter/Butterfinger, Popcorn, Kernel, Kermit, Scoop, Mutt, Skittle, Lemon (can you tell I’m hungry right now…? :) , Speedy, Shorty/Stretch (depending on his height), Bug (from Uncle Buck- good movie), Track, Laser, or maybe a weird animal name like Squid or Monkey. (Bet you’ll have fun naming this guy). Maybe they could even call him by a single letter from his first name, like T or L or M? (Idea stolen from Death Note).

-I really like the name Shirely, and I wouldn’t change it, but I hope you’re happy with it :) .

-Hope this helped; good luck with your writing! Bet you get a good grade; it sounds really interesting so far. :)
