How do you improve reading comprehension?

Riba asked:

By just reading a lot of books? Or are there specific ways that will help you to improve your reading comprehension?

Not reading but talking about what you read with others.

Dianaaa Says:

Get someone to make up interesting questions for you, creative writing tasks. For example, to work on comprehending theme you might want to try to answer a question like… If the main theme of the story was one of the underlying themes, how would the characters personalities change? and then you can write a diary entry about a situation in the book that emphasises the new theme and changes the character to this new personality.. make it interesting and start off with boos you really like eventually you will comprehend more and also work on your creative writing.

Jane Says:

Jot notes down every chapter or so, about the chapter, what happened, etc. Also, talk about what you read, the characters, setting, problem, etc with someone else.

Hope I helped.

Well I had someone of the worst reading comprehension ever, I even had learning disability. What I did to over come it was read a lot and tell people what happen right after I finish the book and keep doing that until you didn’t have to tell anyone and you could remember on your own. Plus read a lot and write it down.

Greta Says:

reading, reading, reading
If you discuss what you read you also seem to pick up more about the book, if something doesn’t make sense reread it until it does, keep a dictionary nearby and look up every word you don’t know. Hope I helped!

I’m sorry that I’m in a rush, but reading more books won’t help much from my past experience… It is some skills need to be picked up. I’ve answered another similar question before, see if it helps:
