Tips on reading Comprehension for the SAT?

xgoldflamerx asked:

Reading comprehsion…I am having trouble with reading comprehension and I was wondering if there would be any good books, tips, or ideas as to how I can improve my score for the Verbal on SAT. I would greatly appreciate everyone’s help and input on it since I seem to be struggling with it and been getting low scores on it. So Any ideas?

One tip that I received in studying for the reading comprehension section of the SAT was to read the questions first. I did this and found that it helped me to focus on certain ideas/themes as I read the passage. Good luck, my friend.

A simple but truly helpful piece of advice I recieved was to write comments and underline things in the passage as you read or after you read. You have as many marks in you reading comprehension and writing sections as you do in your math sections. Try less to find the right answer as disproving all of the others. If you know an answer is flat out wrong, scratch it out. With many questions you can do this and its much more effective than trying to find a right answer because nine times out of ten there are more than one ‘right’ answers.
