Paying for school books at the campus book store?

STEPHANIE B asked:

I am tight on money but my student adviser said I should purchase my books at the book store on campus.

I understand that some books may have been wrote in,
but other than that, why on earth would a person buy the books new, they are only going to serve the purpose for that fall semester and then I will have to purchase new ones again!
Is this just a way to get me to spend money at the campus book store and do I have to purchase from the book store on campus?

How would it benefit me to purchase them new?

TEXTBOOKS ARE A RACKET! The purpose of college is to keep intellectual snobs(professors) employed. The racket works like this the instructor’s buddy wrote the book and he or she uses it in their class and visa versa. And they along with the publisher keep changing the book every year so you have to buy a new one every semester. Sometimes courses like philosophy you will buy a book a week and read a chapter and of course the book is expensive. This is proof that college has turned into a brainwashing cult! Even some student groups are starting to question it. Look online. Good luck!

Your student advisor (not “adviser”) is a con artist, like most of them.

Put “text books” into any search engine and you will get tons of links to online text book sellers who all have much better prices than your campus rip-off book store.

If you buy used books, yes they may be marked (say “written in” not “wrote in” and don’t end a sentence with a preposition).

The first two books you need are a dictionary and an English grammar reference. Get them immediately and learn to read, write and speak my language properly!
